Welcome to ColorComments
Published by DanM August 10th, 2007 in Southern Utah Talking Points and Questions, Southern Utah People.Southern Utah is Color Country.
It’s much more than a slogan thought up by somebody at the Utah Travel Council. It’s a fact.
And it’s much more than just red rock. There’s a lot of cultural and political color here too. For example …
· The fascinating polygamy phenomenon has its most significant base here.
· The West isn’t dying … it’s just drying. And we’re the fulcrum point for water.
· What is the only state where more than half the population still supports Bush? Any guesses?
I’m Dan Mabbutt, a life long resident of Utah. And I’m here to share the color with you.
Hi Dan, Great to hear that you are online (Lena told me). It’s been a pleasure having your mom for a friend. And now I have put your URL on the Coffee Cup Forums. Its been awfully quiet on there and I think our air is being let out since there has been a change of administrative staff at the company. We will see how long we last. I am looking for places to move. There are several possibilities.
David Henderson is doing the final leg of his walk from the UK to Lourdes and if you would like to check in with him go to http://www.meridianman.org/news/walk.html and see what our hero has done already. It’s in aid of the Flying Eye Hospital ORBIS. We aren’t doing too well in getting contributions but maybe still…
Happy you are online, as I said. bye for now, Frieda

Thanks for checking out the site, Frieda. And thanks for letting your Coffee Cup Forums friends know about it too!
You KNOW I’ve been “online” for decades. But everything I have done before this was technical. This is my first step out in the general blogosphere, so be kind!
And check back often.
No wonder I never noticed..Oh, I did too. Just never stumbled over you. I am too busy just keeping everybodys spirits up. Tell me if you would like some humour sent your way. Lena has probably read you some. #8-D Frieda
Pretty cool site Dan. What’s happening down in Springdale? Have you done any traveling?
Thanks Chad! Coming from a web site design and programming guru such as yourself, that’s high praise indeed!
Who would travel away from Color Country?
Seriously, my immediate superior refuses to get on an airplane these days. Not because she thinks it’s dangerous. It’s just that she refuses to be treated the way air passengers are treated these days. We can both remember when it was at least semi-fun to fly. (Young whippersnappers like you probably think that it has always been a trial-by-ordeal to get on an airplane.)
Well, that, and that Kamikaze Airport in St. George isn’t the most reassuring place I can imagine to take off and land an airplane. (A helicopter, maybe.)
Check back to see my contribution to the blogosphere early and often!
Dan,
As a result of our “relationship” through HP free classes and your invitation there to “email me”, I tracked down this blog and “leave a reply”. I hesitate to post my personal email addy in the HP open message board, as I suspect you do also. That seems like asking for grief. But, I hope by submitting a reply here, I might effectively establish a connection with you so that we may explore Vista matters. i had to input my address in the blank which I hope you have access to and to which you will respond, given time, opportunity and inclination.
Thanks, Dan ,,, Al
Got your message, Al. I’ll be in touch!
(But you didn’t say anything about the site!!!!)
Hey Dan!
I asked for & recieved this address from the same HP class that Al did. Glad to see that he responded!
I was ready to when I had my “problem” with removing left over files in the registry. Pretty proud of myself that I was able to disolve that issue due to not only the class, but the additional info you provided us. I like the way you had us look up extra sites. Such a good learning tool that I continue to use.
You also have a good sense of humor that helps remove tensions & creates a better learning enviroment.
I’ve just finished the Vista Advanced Customiziing class. My talents lie more in the Home area, such as sewing & gardening.
I’ve been reading your blogs here today. I like the style of your writtings! Very interesting …. I have added this to my fav list so I can come back & read more later.
I do have a question: Is there some way to organize your favorites drop down so it’s easier to find the topics? Alphabetize(sp?), maybe?
Is there a way to bold, underline here?
I agree with you that we need to keep our gas usage down, but i find it difficult to recomend taxing it to keep it high. I’m on a very limited budget & miss traveling to my Son (& family) in VA as well as my niece (& family) in MD. I could only afford to do this 2-3 times a yr & would combine visiting the 2. Now I can’t afford it at all … :{
I read about the rattlesnake outside your door, and agree to let nature be … so long as they do move along. I would be curious enough to follow at a distance to be sure that I respect him & stay away from his home in the future!!
Keep up the writing!! Looking forward to reading more…..
Ellie
Glad you found the spot Ellie!
“Is there some way to organize your favorites drop down so it’s easier to find the topics? Alphabetize(sp?), maybe?”
Well … This isn’t the Vista class anymore, but just for you …
The “Favorites” List is designed to be organized as a tree-structure. The way I organize mine is by categories:
Technical Web Sites
Visual Basic
VisualBasic.About.Com
Microsoft
Windows
Revolutionary Plots
Trotskyites
Democrats
Alphabetizing wouldn’t work too well.
“Is there a way to bold, underline here?”
Sure There
Is!
Just use HTML markup.
“I agree with you that we need to keep our gas usage down, but …”
Leave a comment for that blog and I’ll reply there.
“I read about the rattlesnake outside your door …”
And leave this comment for that blog too.
Gotcha!
