The Canyon Community Center holds an annual celebration for the opening of the Center.

(Hey! It was a big deal for us! It’s a pretty classy place!)

This year we’re celebrating by raising funds to purchase solar panels and net-metering equipment. The idea is to power our outside lights and events and use less carbon-based fuel! The net-metering equipment measures the difference between the electricity we buy from the power company and the electricity we will generate using our own solar panels. We can even send excess energy back to the power company. The “net” effect is that we will be able to “store” excess electricity on the grid and offset the electricity that we would otherwise have to purchase.

In addition to doing our part for the environment (And Springdale’s power bills!) the funds we raise during our festival this year will also support an educational display about renewable energy sources.

What’s better than a party? A party that you can feel great about the next morning!
