The uniqueness that is Springdale!

As I drive up and down State Road 9, the “main street” of Springdale, Utah, I have noticed political lawn signs popping up.

Nothing unusual about that. It is the season for it.

But on closer examination, it seemed that they were all supporting Democrats. There is something unusual about that. After all, Utah is one of the reddest of the red states and in Washington County, Democrats are on the endangered species list. Down here, that means it’s OK to run them down with an ATV.

So I did a photographic survey to make sure. The illustration below is all of the lawn signs in Springdale from the Zion Park entrance down to the road to the Rockville Bench.

Springdale Lawn Signs

Not one Republican in the bunch.

Does this mean that Utah (and Washington County) is so red that the Republicans figure they don’t even have to try anymore? Or is it that Springdale is just an oasis of reason down here and we want people to know it. Although we only have a few hundred voters here, over three million people pass by every year on State Road 9. So our road signs probably do have some impact.

(By the way, two of the three county wide Democratic candidates, Lynn Alder and Lyman Whitaker, are proud Springdale citizens. Even though we only have a tiny percentage of the county’s population.)

It’s because all the pinko commies in Washington County live in either Springdale or Kayenta

When I was driving through town today, I noticed that FINALLY, one guy has a McCain/Palin lawn sign up.

Maybe it was my commie pinko blog that made him do it.
