Zion Lodge
To celebrate the Centennial of Zion National Park, Z-Arts – the Zion Arts and Humanities Council – sponsored a writing contest. I’m jumping-up-and-down happy to announce that my entry, Zion Lodge Stories, was the winner in the non-fiction category.
This is a huge deal for me. Z-Arts is the oldest, continuously operating arts council in the state of Utah. They’re also the organizing force behind just about anything arty that happens in Zion.
In addition to reading Zion Lodge Stories online here in ColorComments.com, you will also have a chance to hear a selection on the air at KSUB radio (590 AM) October 19th at 4:00 p.m. on “Provident Living,” as part of a special on Zion National Park.
I’m on right after Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. (Oh Joy Unbounded!)
Good for you !!!
Glad for you..
Manou !!
I was wondering if you were still reading the page. Are things well with you?
still living and eating strawberries:)
Just finished reading the tales of you cavorting around as a teenager — very enjoyable. Will there be a sequel? Please, let there be a sequel (“Dan at Zions: Twenty Years Later”).
The end of “Zion Lodge Stories” came upon me so suddenly, I was waiting for the next adventure.
Dan Brown, watch out!
“Cavort!??” I never cavorted. I was always far too distinguished and reserved than to indulge in plebian cavortation.
And, trust me, you wouldn’t want to watch if I even tried any cavorting now.
I have a couple of books in the trunk. (Finding a publisher … or even an agent … is harder than you might think.) I’ve wondered if it might be interesting to publish chapters from one of them.
Yes, definitely a good idea.
I would be honored to be your one-man focus group to test the waters. Send me a chapter with enough background about what the whole book is about (like a book jacket blurb say) so I can read it with some context.
Are you game?
Absolutely!
Now, all I have to do is decide which one.
I have one that is a contemporary action novel based on Utah culture and one that is historical based on a Viking voyage. And I have a few ideas that aren’t really worked into anything yet.
What would you like to start on?
Let’s start with “contemporary action novel based on Utah culture.” Okay?
