The low angle of the sun reveals the cliffs of Color Country.

November 2009 - Shadows and RocksEarly morning and late afternoon are the best times for the rock cliffs of Color Country. And the full moon just rising over the eastern horizon adds a dramatic touch that touched me enough to make me grab my camera.

Was this photo taken from your front porch? If so, I REALLY envy you. If not, I still envy you because I presume it is just a short distance to get to where you took it.
And I thought the view from my condo of Mount Olympus was nice . . . yeah, think again bozo.

Yep. Right from my porch. Most of the shots are.

This is actually a side view of a mountain called “The Watchman”. You see it in other photographs a lot (it’s the mountain in the center of the highway billboard for the Majestic View Lodge – even though that majestic view can’t be seen from the Majestic View – so much for truth in advertising) but the normal view you see is a head-on view from the Park Visitor Center.
