I went to Price yesterday (down in the morning, watched two baseball games at CEU, then went to visit Daddy, then home in the evening - long day). There was water seeping out of the canyon wall in a place that I've NEVER seen water seep before (can't remember exactly where it was), and the waterfall (the one in the horseshoe-shaped indentation in the canyon wall) was still frozen, but it was huge - much larger than I've ever seen it before. - So I guess there's additional water in this part of the state also. And this part of the state usually has little water. They also had more snow down there this past winter than they've had since I was a little girl, I think. - But not enough, as you stated, to fill Lake Powell.

I only wish they were down.

The most discouraging thing is that in spite of all this, these bozos were successful!

Dan,
Ever the nit-picker, I found a nit you missed in the quote from Vanguard Media (pile on, kick 'em while they're down). Add this to the "sics" you noted: "We developed an set of tactics . . . " ("an" set?)
   I loved your "even sic-er"!!

That's exactly the point.

The "gravel pit theory" - stated very simply - is that anybody that you would actually want to be elected gets "screened out" - like a rock that's the wrong size - by a process that forces people to sell their soul to win elections. Nobody worth electing is willing to do that over and over.

Maybe another way of looking at the problem would be to ask How do we go about selecting (not electing) people who might be considered electable ? Are these people really chosen way down at the neighborhood committee meetings. Or does something happen as these people climb the political ladder so that a lot of really good leaders are lost in the shuffle? Lena

Thanks, Dan - and Lisa. My church and all of its members are active recyclers. We have bins and garbage cans outside the church and they are filled regularly. - But, we have not been recycling bottle caps. We will do so now, however. I'm going to tell the committee in charge of this about the website and I'll tell them I will be responsible for taking the caps to an Aveda salon (I found one 5 miles from my house) when our container is filled.

Love hearing positive stories about the younger generation!
