February 2009 - Sunrise at Johnson MountainJohnson Mountain is the ‘gatekeeper’ of Zion Canyon, standing guard at the confluence of the East and North forks of the Virgin River. (Or, Parunuweap and Mukuntuweap to some of us who live in the canyon.)

A sunrise like this one doesn’t come along every day. And it only lasts for a few minutes; you have to have your camera ready. People who live in the big cities actually have great sunrises more often because the colors are caused by stuff in the air. We seldom have much ’stuff’ in our air.
